Wondering what your child needs for their very first class?
We’ve put together recommendations for leotards, tights, and shoes that meet studio requirements while keeping comfort in mind.
Starting ballet as an adult can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Our Beginner Guide was created with you in mind, bringing together everything you need: the right leotards, supportive shoes, skirt and tights for your very first class.
Ballet is for everyone.
Our male collection provides tailored support and fit for first-time dancers, from ballet shoes to tights and tops. Explore pieces that make your entry into ballet comfortable and confident.
The right fit matters just as much as the style you choose. Dancewear should feel snug enough to move with you, yet not restrictive. If you’re unsure, our Sizing Guide offers measurements and fit tips to help you make a more confident choice.
Leotard
Your leotard should feel like a second skin — snug but comfortable. It should stay in place as you move, without slipping off the shoulders or cutting into the skin. A close fit also allows teachers to see and correct your posture, helping you progress safely and confidently.
Ballet Shoe
Ballet shoes should feel like a sock, almost part of your foot. They should hug your feet comfortably with no extra space at the toes or heel, allowing you to sense the floor beneath you while giving enough room to point and flex with ease.
Care Guide
Proper care keeps your dancewear and shoes looking and feeling their best. Follow these simple tips to extend the life of your leotards and ballet shoes.
Wear
It is advisable to wear ballet shoes with socks or tights for hygiene. Since ballet shoes fit snugly, sweat and heat can build up easily, socks or tights help keep them fresher and more comfortable.
Clean
Gently wipe with a damp cloth to remove dirt or dust, then air dry. Avoid soaking in water to protect the material.
Keep
Keep your shoes in a breathable shoe bag. Avoid storing them in plastic bags for long periods, as lack of airflow can trap moisture.
Wear
Always wear your leotard with proper dance undergarments for comfort and a neat silhouette.
Clean
To keep your leotard looking new and lasting longer, we recommend hand washing in cold water with a gentle detergent. Avoid twisting or wringing the fabric — instead, gently squeeze out excess water and drip dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry or iron, as heat can damage the elasticity and fabric.
Keep
Store your leotard in a breathable garment bag or folded neatly in a drawer. Avoid keeping it damp or in a plastic bag, as this can damage the fabric.
